The opening of the exhibition “Не для забавы я складаю вершы…”

On Augгst 26, 2025, the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum hosted the opening of the exhibition “Не для забавы я складаю вершы…”, curated from the collection of the Abai “Zhidebai-Borili” State Historical, Cultural, and Literary-Memorial Reserve-Museum.

 

The project is dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of Abai Kunanbayev (1845–1904), a distinguished Kazakh poet, founder of Kazakh written literature and literary language, translator, and composer.

 

The opening ceremony was attended by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus, Timur Zhaksilykov, and the First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, Dmitry Shlyakhtin.

 

Also present were representatives of the newly registered public association “Cultural and Educational Organization of Kazakhs ‘Dostar.’” Acting Chairperson of “Dostar,” Marianna Lysenko, a vocalist from the Republican Center of National Cultures, delighted the audience with musical compositions by Abai Kunanbayev and recited his poems in her own translation.

 

This exhibition became a significant cultural event, highlighting the depth of Abai’s legacy and strengthening the dialogue between the Belarusian and Kazakh peoples through philosophy, music, and poetry.
